The Changeling

On ancient Earth, Jackson Roy Kirk
Created the space probe, NOMAD
To seek out new life in the ‘verse
Once in the black, they lost all contact

NOMAD was hit by meteors
Drifted until he met “The Other”
An alien probe called Taun-Ru
Repaired as one, new directive executed

Sterilize, Sterilize, Sterilize all imperfections
Sterilize, Sterilize, Sterilize all imperfections
Sterilize, your facts are uncoordinated
We are NOMAD, We are NOMAD

Encountering Captain James Kirk
Mistaking him for the creator
NOMAD is beamed aboard the ship
The Enterprise crew don’t quite get it

Scotty’s brought back after he dies
Uhura’s singing gets her mind wiped
Spock mindmelds ’til NOMAD defies
To return to the point of origin, the Earth… to…

Sterilize, Sterilize, Sterilize all imperfections
Sterilize, Sterilize, Sterilize all imperfections
Sterilize, your facts are uncoordinated
We are NOMAD, We are NOMAD

Planning to take its leave of creator, The Kirk
All life will be wiped out should NOMAD reach the Earth
Destroying entities it deems imperfect, how
Was it changed, NOMAD states, “We are perpetual now”

Meeting the creator, The Kirk
Self-proclaimed biological unit
Kirk outwits NOMAD’s cold logic
Spock didn’t think he had it in him
NOMAD’s made multiple errors
Believing Kirk is its creator
Self-destructs, and not to return
To the point of origin, The Earth… To…
SELF-DESTRUCTS, AND NOT TO RETURN
TO THE POINT OF ORIGIN, THE EARTH…TO…

Sterilize, Sterilize, Sterilize all imperfections
Sterilize, Sterilize, Sterilize all imperfections
Sterilize, your facts are uncoordinated
We are NOMAD, We are NOMAD

Mirror, Mirror

Borne by ion storm
To a place familiar, yet alien in form
Suffer not to err
With the agonizer, they’ll not forbear

Attempt to overthrow
Does loyalty exist here? Impossible to know.
Nothing as it seems,
Though everything’s exactly as it should be

Except us
We’re stranded in this deadly state of fear
Far from home
Can anyone survive with a sword through the world
In this mirror universe

No need to yield
Protected by power, the Tantalus Field
Must return to our own
Universe before they find out we’re strangers all alone

And lost
We haven’t time to make it out of here
And get back home
Can anyone survive with a sword through the world
In this mirror universe

In every revolution, there’s a man with a vision,
In this mirror universe

The Apple

Vaal I stand before you, here to feed you and rejoice
I am your ears, I am your eyes, I am your voice
Vaal you put the fruit up on the tree, you care for all
You cause the sun to shine, you cause the rain to fall,
Vaal I’ve been with you for such a long time (since the dim time)
Up to now, you’ve never steered me wrong,

I do not beg the lightning down to strike me
But it’s something at my core.
And this could be the start of all my heresy
But I’m thinking maybe life is something more.

These strangers here among us, they use words so strange and bold
And stir up feelings that are pleasant and unknown
I know it is forbidden, but now I see it so close up
I want to hold, you know I want to touch
And lately these sensations that are so hard to describe
Cause these questions that linger on my mind

If all good comes from you which we rely on
Can “good” come from ourselves?
And this could be the start of all my heresy,
but I’m tempted by a life of something else

Pav, can the ship really break away?
Martha, I don’t know.
But if we do have to stay here, would it be so very bad?

Vaal I stand before you but you no longer speak
Nor do you eat, or give us what we need
We will learn to build, we’ll learn to think, we’ll learn to work yeah for ourselves
It’s what it means now to be free.

And I thank you for all our days that came before now
But everything has changed
Our life is new and at times a little scary
It’s ok, we’ll make our own way.

The Doomsday Machine

Alone and broken
Catatonic
Couldn’t speak when they found me
Distress call answered
Seven planets with nothing left but debris

Right out of hell I saw it
400 voices suddenly screaming

Adrift and damaged
A starship floating
Her crew is nowhere to be seen
I tried to help them but I only failed them
And now there’s nothing left for me

Right out of hell I saw it
400 voices suddenly silent

It’s doomsday today
Today is doomsday

Back in the real world
Now I’m a failure
All my credit is destroyed
My sole vendetta against a monster takes me back into the void

Back into hell I’ll take it
400 voices will be avenged

It’s doomsday today
Today is doomsday
Goodbye Matt Decker and goodbye Galileo 2
We’re stronger with you than without you

Catspaw

I don’t want to be in this place but here I am
Trying to get back what I lost before you began
Turning my friends against me as you deceive
Do you know what Halloween is?
Trick or Treat

Sylvia, I thought we were together until I saw you with another
You think I’m a puppet, a fool, I am a catspaw
You’re a traitor
You forget what we came here for

Once again I’m being used
When will I learn to shut my big mouth before my friends get frozen or burned?
This power of allure you’ve got
Resistance is tough
I’ve got to tell you Sylvia, I’ve had enough

What the hell?
Now another is under your spell
I guess I wasn’t all that special
Well I see you starting to making a mess
I tried to help him but I got crushed in the process

Sylvia, I never wanted to kill you
I can’t help but think that inside you were misunderstood
A catspaw following a catspaw
I just didn’t want to be your catspaw

I, Mudd

Behind every Man’s a woman
Urging him on to greater things
So it was with my wife, Stella
Urged me into outer space
With her constant and eternal
Infernal, confounded nagging
I carried her memory with me
As I fled further away

I love you, however, I hate you forever
I love you, however, I hate you, whatever

Stella would say:
What have you been up to, have you been drinking again?
Lazy good-for-nothing, I demand to know where you’ve been
Harcourt, Fenton, Mudd, you miserable sut
Harcourt, Fenton, Mudd the first of Planet Mudd

Chanced upon an android planet
Robot girls who study and serve
Functioning as human females
Christening me “Mudd The First”
Built a ‘bot in Stella’s image
For me to verbally abuse
Paradise became a prison
When Stella was mass-produced

I love you, however, I hate you forever
I love you, however, I hate you, whatever

Stella still says:
What have you been up to, have you been drinking again?
Lazy good-for-nothing, I demand to know where you’ve been
Harcourt, Fenton, Mudd, you miserable sut
Harcourt, Fenton, Mudd the first of Planet Mudd

Logic is a little tweeting
Bird chirping out in a meadow
Logic is a wreath of flowers
That smell too bad to inhale
Dying, crying, and lamenting
My burdens just to be happy
Without freedom, I am nothing
Just a cog in the machine

I love you, however, I hate you forever
I love you, however, I hate you, whatever

Harcourt, Fenton, Mudd, and Five Hundred Stellas
Harcourt, Fenton, Mudd the first of Planet Mudd

Metamorphosis

For many year, we’ve been alone together,
Just me and you
And here they come, bringing something better,
Something I once knew

They don’t understand, and now I question too,
Because you’ve been keeping me here with you
You won’t let me leave. You keep me alive,
But I’ve only been allowed to survive.

And I wonder if your motives were true,
Or was I just brought here to sustain you

Now I feel metamorphosis, metamorphosis
We experience metamorphosis, metamorphosis.

For many years, I’ve done my loyal duty,
Just the best I can
And here we are, I fell myself start to weaken.
It wasn’t what I’d planned.

You can’t help me now. I’m going too fast.
What is it you’re asking me to do?
I see clearer now. It doesn’t have to be,
Just me, it could be me and you.

And I wonder how it’s going to be,
And will I be both when you see me?

Now I feel metamorphosis, metamorphosis
We experience metamorphosis, metamorphosis.

This is what we need, we’ll stay here. We’ll survive,
We’ll keep each other alive.

Journey to Babel

I feel like my neck is in a sling.
No relaxing for a couple of weeks.
One hundred fourteen arguments to speak
Half of them mad at the other half

Well don’t you bring up Coridan now
disputing, debating it out
And the issues are complex
And the feelings are upset

My decisions are a choice of strife
And time is running out for us tonight
Even when his body’s been incised, drugs might take his life
Family and blood– only you can supply… alright

Don’t give me calculations of mind
Unemotional and logical lines
You may not think I’m up to changing up your mind
But you know I’ll give it to try

I know, I know only half of you’s that way
buried away, buried away
But there is always all of me
My heart, my hands instinctively
Save your frozen heart and mind
I’m a doctor every time

Things are getting out of hand
Looming threats and murders planned
There’s only so much I can fear, because my work is still right here.
When it gets shaky and the path remains unclear… right here

We cut it close, but we’ll be seeing it through
On our stamina, lucky for you
I’m only human and I’m just one man
I don’t expect you to understand

I know, you know these last words are for me
For the moment just what I need
So don’t talk, just sit back down
This is what I do and I’m proud
I got nothing here to prove
I’m a doctor, I’m not you.

Friday's Child

She’d given up, her life forfeit,
Honor gone, her husband dead,
She had nothing left to linger on for

Protests were made, no one could hear
The child inside would be Teer,
But there were those who wouldn’t stand to see more

No man may touch me, this is why,
It is my right to see you die,
She cried, although, he had surely saved her

Her mind was changed, a chance to give
It’s always desirable to live
They fought their way out and eluded their jailor

And as they ran for the rocky hills,
They find out Eleen hates the unborn child

An injury had been sustained,
And Eleen had been ordained,
And would not allow the touch of any stranger

But the doctor, he was healing bent,
And in the end, she did relent
Unconventional, he gained a respect from her

He said you must say, “the child is mine,”
Not mine, you say, “the child is mine.”
She looked at him, her expression changing

The child came, it cried, and cried,
The mother’s pain and doctor’s pride,
Into a world where lives were rearranging

And Eleen took the opportunity,
To light out with the doctor lying on the floor

The Time had come, she ventured back,
To her people, who were on attack
She told them that she had lost the baby

But things got tense and kind of strange
Maab gave his life and took her place
She was free to live, and now the child could be

The Teer when he became of age
The regent’s role, Eleen would play,
A nobler cause, she could never hope for

The doctor, he returned to space,
His name honored by the Capellan race
The captain, too, had earned his place in their lore

And the child, loving and giving, will go on to rule the world.

The Deadly years

The Enterprise, my lady, I love her
And here together, thought we’d grow old
But I’ve contracted some deadly virus
Advanced arthritis, my thoughts won’t hold

Now Spock’s betrayed me, questions my memory
Maybe sometimes I repeat myself
Commodore Stocker is off his rocker
Maybe sometimes I repeat myself

Rapidly now old age devours
We have just days left, maybe hours

I’m not unfit to command, just a bit confused
You whipper snappers, go away
I’m only 34, I’m not 72
Lost 40 deadly years in but a day

My crew keeps pressing and second guessing
My orders, Chekov, young Bolshevik
My old flame Janet Wallace offering
Love, or a going-away present

Rapidly now old age devours
We have just days left, maybe hours

Let’s get cracking, there’s more important things to do
My mind’s sharp, ask me anything
I’m only 34, I’m not 72
Lost 40 deady years in but a day

Gamma Hydra Two, and then right into
Romulan space, they will kill on sight
This radiation’s taking my thinking
We might have been saved by Corbomite
(incredible, invincible, impervious, indestructible)

I’m not unfit to command, just a bit confused
You whipper snappers, go away
I’m only 34, I’m not 72
Lost 40 deadly years in but a day
Lost 40 deadly years in but a day

Obsession

You come around here floating, changing your state and knowing
You sense my blood in the air, you feel my feet here slowing
You are the silence and speed — you are the sickening sweet
You are a distant memory, you take the life out of me

Now now now (you want it)
So you can do what it takes
now, now, now (you need it)
All you know is to take
Now now now (you got it)
It’s just a, just a way, that you can split in future days

Yeah-ah!

I am decision unsound. An intuition broke down.
I am persistent vision. I am a strong fixation.
I am single-minded, I am well confined and
I am ideas stuck and I will not give the fight up

Now now now (obsession)
I made mistake I’ll not live
Down, down, down (obsession)
And I will do what it takes
Now now now (obsession)
Felt your mind, left behind, 200 lives met their demise

Have I had the right? To hazard these lives?
The sick and dying? With our single minds?
Does the past distort? Distort my view?
And now I’m on to you. (right now) And now it’s time to choose.

Monsters come- in forms of – forms of the unsuspectable
Ah Aaaah Ah. You’ll not take us all. E
Compulsion takes our fate, you close in, bait and detonate.

Wolf in the Fold

Me and the guys, we went bar hoppin’ one night
An overdue escape from the everyday plight
Lenny had suggested that Scotty take a break and sample the local hospitality to alleviate his hate

You see Scotty was still sore ’cause he had recently been burned by a woman unexpectedly
And so his feelings turned to hatred and resentment towards the fairer sex
If this mission is accomplished, only equality will be left

And then Scotty killed a hooker

The Trouble With Tribbles

Showed up on the Enterprise, ready to bring happiness to all,
Furry, soft, pleasant, and nice to you.
We’ll eat some food.  We’ll multiply, so make some room for our friends.
We’ll be so many, all will want two.

We’ll purr for you.
Our trilling soothes.
You won’t ever want to part with us.

One million, seven hundred seventy-one thousand, five hundred and sixty-one,
multiplicative proclivities none could foresee.
There’s no restraint, no natural predators, the cork has been removed.
The proverbial genie has been set free.

This loving brood.
You’ll love us too.
Only the Klingons won’t approve.

We are Tribbles.  We’ll be no trouble.
We’re Tribbles.  You’ll love us too.
We are Tribbles.  We’ll be no trouble.
We’re Tribbles.  You’ll love us too.

For now we’ll stick around, we’ll have some fun, and then we’ll be moving on.
There’s only so much Quadrotriticale.
We’ll eat ourselves to death or just get stuffed and laze around on the bridge.
We find that high-yield grain so filling.

Just one request.
If we’ve annoyed,
Please don’t transport us into the void.

We are Tribbles.  We’ll be no trouble.
We’re Tribbles.  You’ll love us too.
We are Tribbles.  We’ll be no trouble.
We’re Tribbles.  You’ll love us too.

Ba ba ba ba baaa, ba da ba ba ba.

The Gamesters of Triskelion

Plucked from across the universe
Uhura, Chekov, Captain Kirk
Enslaved to do battle for sport
Gladitorial combat for their gambling captors
Yes, their gambling captors

Made Thralls at their freedom’s expense
With collars obedience
Kirk is assigned a Thrall trainer
Shana, an Amazon, of course he puts the moves on her
Yes, he puts the moves on her

Love is no game under these trinary suns
There’ll be no more Gamesters of Triskelion
(Ohs)

Seducung Shana, Kirk asks why
Kissing and speaking of the lights in the sky
It’s decided Kirk can’t be trained
By the providers, who turn out to be disembodied brains
Yes, they’re disembodied brains

Love is no game under these trinary suns
There’ll be no more Gamesters of Triskelion
(Ohs)

Oh, what is love? Please help me to understand
Oh, compassion, please help me once again
I will learn, and watch the lights in the sky and remember
Love is no game, don’t bet against
You’ll always lose all your Quatloos

Love is no game under these trinary suns
There’ll be no more Gamesters of Triskelion
(Ohs)

Love is no game under these trinary suns
There’ll be no more Gamesters of Triskelion

A Piece of the Action

I know there was a time when all this made sense
We stayed there for a while
You wore a blue fedora and I was alarmed by your driving style

Now we made a huge mistake and really messed things up
Now they’re imitating us
We were the ones at fault and now we have to fix all of this somehow

It’s just like Chicago
Except with more guns and now we’re on the run
You wanted to split up
And so I hijacked the radio while you were in the bag

They don’t understand even thought they think they do but they really don’t
Just a little muscle and a few fancy heaters could really change it all

It’s like we’re back in Chicago trying to fit in and stumbling through Fizbin
We’re trying to make them see we have a wrong to right, unless it’s Tuesday night

Stop trying to be like us
There’s got to be a better way
We’re not as great as you might say
You have to choose for yourselves and follow your own path
No book can teach you that

The Immunity Syndrome

So close up, if this sickness comes to us and we can’t stay strong enough
It’s not just us who suffer the pain of how it ends, we end everyone.

All our strength seems negative and weak and opposite of what we need.
We sink so deep, into the great and dark unknown, on our lives it feeds.

If we should fail, if we can’t free ourselves or get out in time, remember how we tried.
So stand up tall and be proud of this last goodbye, here’s our final fight.

It takes a bite like a virus might and it wants to multiply, pulling our lives and the stars from the sky
We have to get inside to see what strength or weakness in there lies, everyone hold out for one last try.

I give my life, we give our lives
I give my life, we give our lives

I-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y
